College Issues Forum

Overview
The College Issues Forum (CIF) is a unique opportunity for Missouri college students to engage in debate over issues of state importance at a conference conducted by your peers. Participants from across the state will draft, present and debate a proposal, similar to a bill, on one state issue. During this two and a half day program, proposals will be heard and discussed in committees. Committees will then submit the top proposals to move on to a general assembly session for the entire to debate and discuss. CIF will bring together students from around the state for an opportunity to debate their proposals, interact with other passionate students, and develop as leaders. Participants are required to be enrolled at a two-year or four-year college or university in Missouri, or have permanent residence in Missouri, or be a past participant of Missouri YMCA Youth In Government.

Schedule and Location
CIF will be held April 9-11, 2010, on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Missouri.

Program Fee: $50
This fee is paid by the participants. This fee is due by March 12, 2010. Checks should be made payable to "Missouri YMCA Youth In Government" or "MOYIG" and mailed to the YIG State Office. Once paid, all fees are non-refundable. Failure to pay fees by stated deadlines will result in the student being dropped from the program.

The program fee does not include lodging or transportation expenses to and from Columbia. Students are responsible for this. Students should bring spending money to cover the costs of meals during CIF. Students are responsible for breakfast and lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Dinner on Saturday evening is provided. Students may also want refreshment or a snack throughout the day, which can be found on the Mizzou campus.
